Say hello to the mango season!

Summer has started in Kerala. The temperature is rising to a record high this year, and personally being a monsoon person, I feel the only good thing about the heat is that it might quickly ripen all the hundred dozens of green mangoes I see all around in the neighborhood.





I somehow miss the hoards of tender mangoes these use to be last month, but I am also getting excited that the green is changing its tint to a faded green and then the awaited yellowishness.

I am a huge mango person, I love them in every possible way. The kanni (tender) mangoes in brine, the pacha (unripe0 mangoes with salt and chilly powder, the sweetness of the ripe soft and juicy moovandan mangoes, or the puliyorkaran mangoes that goes into making the mambazha pullisery which is an almost sweet curry that we have with rice, or the perfect bliss from the heavenly alphonsa mangoes.


On that note, this is something I saw in google images today, so apt, so true. 🙂
